Sometimes I’ve been asked, “What is the response of the persons who get a PET Mobility Cart? Do they appreciate it?”

From observations and reports I suggest that there are three common responses when a PET is received:
(1) First, there is the sheer joy of being mobile. Some have been crawling upon the ground for as much as 47 years, and now they are suddenly up at eye level and can move themselves about – sheer joy!swazilandgrannyonblkta2009

A grandmother in Swaziland who got a PULL-PET raised her arms in the air and shouted “Hallelujah, Hallelujah”

A 6 year old boy in Mexico “half dragged and half crawled out to get his PET, so excited.”
A man in The Republic of Georgia “smiled for the first time in years.” The response is ‘JOY!

(2) Second, they ask the question, “Why would someone thousands of miles away, whom I can never thank, why would they do this for me?” My response to that is to tell them that when we Christians say the Lord’s prayer, we call God, “Father”. That means we are all one family. The PET is a gift within the family.

(3) Third, they ask themselves how they can make use of the PET to make a living, to help repay those who have cared for them so long. They are quite creative in doing that. They put a picnic cooler on it and hit the street selling snacks. One sells balloons to children at a park. Another sells fresh bread her parents make. One hauls packages home for folks who get off a bus. They are entrepreneurs.
