A group of concerned citizens from Acuña, Mexico are exploring affiliation with the PET Mobility Project.
After distributing many PET carts from the Affiliate in San Antonio, Texas, DIF (Mexican Social Services) president Esther Talamas de Pérez, approached us and thanked us for helping the people living in Acuña.
She believes they have the resources and potential volunteers to build their own PET carts in Mexico. With the support and encouragement of her husband, Evaristo Lenin Pérez Rivera, Mayor of Acuña, a request to be become a PET Affiliate was submitted to PET International.
In response, a meeting was held in Del Rio, TX on March 16 to explore this possibility and to establish the next steps that would be necessary.
While at this meeting, sophomore high school student Camila Pérez, daughter of the DIF President and Acuña Mayor, presented Scott Walters PI Executive Director with a donation of $1,800. Camila raised these funds for the PET Mobility Project by selling homemade lollipops at her school in Acuña.
